Dipper Note 05.30.16

Donna writes:

9:45 – 10:10 a.m.
When I arrived, the male was sitting on a rock at the north opening.  As he foraged a few short trips upstream, the female flew out of the nest box, headed downstream out of sight, then returned to the box maybe 10 seconds later. The male flew to the box immediately after her, and stayed there about 3 minutes. He then returned to the rock, made more foraging trips downstream, returning to the nest box twice carrying food. When I left he had flown downstream again, out of sight.   (I returned briefly at 11:00, and he was again sitting on the same rock.)
Observation time:
     Female: a few seconds
     Male: 25 min.
