Dipper Note 04.21.16

John Muir born this day in 1838. The American Dipper was one of his favorite birds.

I visited the Hersey St. nest this afternoon and saw a nestling poking its head out.  The nestling appeared quite advanced in its development. Looking over the data sheets and reports its seems the birds may have hatched just after the the Bridge 3 birds. The dark conditions under the bridge make it challenging to see what goes on .

The Bridge 3 birds should be fledging sometime next week. Fledging occurs 24-26 days after hatching. All reports are appreciated!
