Dipper Note 06.30.14

We spent about 1 hour below the dam from about 10:30 this morning. The Great Blue Heron with the rag was standing right where we last saw the fledgling (yesterday). The adult dipper was on the lower dam abutment. I went down by the water and the heron flew up over the dam, and spooked the dipper which first flew downstream, landed briefly, and then flew upstream and over the dam. It returned in about 15 minutes and then sat on a rock just downstream of us until we left. So no sign of fledglings, but the adult is clearly hanging around for a reason. Will continue to check back. PK
