4/30 3PM Barbara
Started at 1st bridge. No sight nor sound of a dipper for 10 min. Went down the rocks on the east side til I could see the nest. There were two chicks visible, their yellow beaks moving. Silent. No visit by a parent in the 15 min I was there.
3:30 – 4:00 Main St. The banded male was standing on a rock singing, across from the nest and facing it . Then preened. Then sang again. Then went downstream and returned with food and fed at the nest. Then flew upstream and didn’t return. I walked up to the playground but saw no dippers.
So at this nest the first chick fledged on Sat., two more probably Sunday PM as they had not appeared by noon, Mon. there were 3 fledglings and the parents fed them and alternately sang facing the nest, apparently trying to call the chick(s) out. And today (Tues) that has not yet happened.
